My Design Journey Started Here…
When I first started school, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to study graphic design. In fact, I’m not sure what I precisely wanted to do at all.
My family and I saw me as a very artistic kid growing up, and I’ve always been attracted to the arts for the longest time. But when it came to my future, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go into a full-time career in the arts.
What ended up drawing me into graphic design was how much I resonated with its ability to tell a story. With my minor in digital media productions from college, I think one of my strongest skills was how much I could convey a message or theme behind the camera and editing software that I control. Naturally, this ideology also falls into my work as a creative and the way that I view various media as a designer. Every day, people are exposed to new dilemmas that design often answers and solves in intriguing ways. Whether it be an advertisement for a movie or a PSA for a nonprofit, design is essential in calling for an audience’s attention and keeping them interested.
As someone who takes inspiration from the media she consumes and aspires to create, I see design not just as an artistic form of marketing, but as a complementary way to perceive the world in a digestible manner.
